Bob is founder & President of R.J. Shirer & Associates. Since his graduation from the University of Toronto in 1983 with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemical Engineering) degree he has worked as a Research Associate, a Field Engineer in the Waste Recovery Industry, and a Sales/Service Engineer in the Pulp & Paper Industry. Following that he has worked as Forensic Engineer and Manager, conducting Fire Investigations, Accident Reconstructions, Failure Analyses, and a variety of other forensic investigations for the insurance and legal industries.
Bob is a member in good standing of the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) and is also designated as a Consulting Engineer by the PEO. He is a Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator (CFEI) and is an active and contributing member to many industry-related professional groups, such as OSPE, CAFI, SFPE, NAFI, IAAI, CATIR, NAPARS, SAE International, Blue Goose Society, and various others. He also regularly attends training sessions and conferences to keep current with forensic investigation standards and techniques.
Bob has conducted seminars and training courses for various institutions and industry groups, as well as in-house seminars to professionals in the Insurance and Legal Industries. He has been admitted as an expert witness and offered opinion evidence as to the origin & cause of fires, accidents, and other technical matters in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, and Manitoba on 25 occasions.

Ram is one of our Forensic experts, conducting fire and explosion investigations, failure analysis and other forensic investigations for the insurance and legal industries.
He graduated from Jordan University of Science and Technology in 1996 with a Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree (B.Eng.), and began working at Jordan National Police HQ - Forensic Science Laboratory Department as a Forensic Engineer & PBI Specialist. He conducted Fire and Explosion Investigations; Post Blast Investigations; Toxicology and Chemical examinations for pesticides, toxic materials, blood, drugs, narcotics and body fluids. During his service with the Police, he has attended many fire and Post Blast investigation training courses with Jordan & US Law Enforcement Agencies.
In 2004, Ram began work with the United Nations Police Headquarter - Professional Standards Unit (PSU) as a CIVPOL investigator, conducting investigation and supporting professionalism throughout the organization. During his service with UN, he has received "In the Service of Peace” UN Medal.
Ram later moved to New York, USA and graduated from State University of New York in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science, and received the Dr. Donald Bishko Award for outstanding academic achievement. After graduation, he moved to Canada and started working at Mercedes Benz Canada, and as an Accountant at Airtime Communications until starting with R. J. Shirer & Associates.
Ram is an active and contributing member in a good standing to many industry related professional Organizations, such as the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO), Ontario Society of Professional Engineers (OSPE), National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), Canadian Association of Fire Investigators (CAFI), Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), International Association of Fire Investigators (IAFI), and one of the executive members of CAFI, Chapter 006.

Lev is our newest forensic expert, and has shown a strong aptitude in the fields of accident reconstruction and structural analysis. He is eager to delve into the fields of fire investigation and failure analysis under the mentorship of Bob Shirer and his nearly 30 years of forensic experience.
Leverett graduated from Queen’s University in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Engineering. After graduation Lev worked for a short time at Northern Cables Inc., an electrical cable manufacturer in Brockville, before coming to work for R. J. Shirer & Associates Inc. in early 2016.
